Liebster Award | 2013

I've seen the Liebster Award floating around people's blogs for a while now, and I've actually been nominated myself by Forever Styling and Nicola, so thank you!

The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers.

What is Liebster? It's German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome. 

Blogging is about building a community and sharing your thoughts with other bloggers, The Liebster Award is a great way to do that and also help and promote newer bloggers to others who share similar interests.

The rules for the award are:

Dream fashion event to attend?

Ooh this is really difficult because there are so many, but maybe London Fashion Week.

Favourite designer/brand?

I don't really have one!

Biggest inspiration?

At the moment I'm going to have to say Louise because honestly she's absolutely amazing for so many reasons that I could probably ramble on forever about. But one of the main reasons is that even though parts of her life were really hard, she pushed through it and is now so positive on everything and she doesn't dwell on the past or horrible things. I really want to be able to have a mindset like that.

Favourite blogger?

Probably Sammi because I love her fashion sense and she is always uploading posts showing her outfits.

Dream career?

I always thought a job where I got to travel a lot sounds really fun, but I haven't really thought of a real career.

Why did you start your blog?

Quite a few reasons actually. I thought it would be a really fun productive way to spend my time because I love reading other people's blog posts and I love to take photos and ramble on about everything. I also think it's a good way to document events so you can easily go back and look at them.

Favourite season?

Autumn, it's not too warm but it isn't freezing or rainy either, and all the trees go really pretty colours.

Wardrobe staple?

Boots/ankle boots, I have found a new love for them earlier this year and I can't stop wearing them. They are also the type of shoe which you can wear all year round, which is exactly what I have been doing.

What beauty product can you not live without?

My browzings eyebrow kit. I can get quite obsessive with my eyebrows and I always have to fill them in and make them look completely perfect. If they're not, I usually wipe the browzings off and start again.

Your best accessory? 

I really like small simple bracelets, although I often forget to wear them.

Nicola's Questions

What was your last purchase?

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellaire Water! I was so excited to get it because they don't sell it here in England, and I went to Belgium a few days ago so I saw the opportunity and I took it.

What's your favourite item of clothing?

My striped long sleeve top from American Apparel.

What's your favourite kind of chocolate?

Milk chocolate from this little chocolate shop near where I live called Patisserie Viennoise of Otley.

Why did you start blogging?

My iPad. I didn't realise how dependent I was on it until it broke and it felt like I had lost one of my limbs it was literally like a part of me was missing.

Spiders and heights.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

America, I also think it would be really cool to visit each state, so I really want to try do that.

Hello!

Tomorrow I'm going to Belgium for a couple of days and I thought I'd do a quick post showing what I'm taking with me. I really love reading posts like this. I suppose it's kind of showing people's favourite makeup products because there's always a space and weight limit with holiday packing, so you have to pick the best of the bunch; and I'm quite nosy so I like to see what people are loving.

As I'm not going to be there for too long, I have only included my essentials, but it still weighs a lot?!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - 1 Fair

I use this on my blemishes because it covers them really well, but not as much under the eyes because it has a high coverage and I find it can look quite heavy and it can start to crease.

Benefit Browzings - Medium 

This is my favourite eyebrow product, the wax and powder are easily build-able from a natural brow, to a really strong brow.

Collection Eyebrow Definer - Brown

I use this to fill in any sparce areas that I can't fill in with my Browzings, but with a light hand because it can come out quite strong.

Maybelline Gel Eyeliner - Black Chrome

My first gel eyeliner but I really like it, it's really easy to apply with a good pigment and I find it lasts all day. Although it has got shimmer running through it, but if you don't mind shimmer in an eyeliner it's great.

Bourjois Paris Khol & Contour Eye Pencil - Ultra Black

I haven't been using pencil eyeliner a lot since I discovered gel, but I think this eyeliner has quite a good pigment and it lasts for ages without fading - not my favourite though, I am yet to find a favourite eye pencil.

Maybelline The Falsies Waterproof Mascara - Black

Like the usual Falsies it fans out lashes, adds volume and length, but with the added extra of being waterproof . And it's a good waterproof mascara, I went swimming and it stayed put the whole time.

Maxfactor Lash Extension Effect Mascara - Black

Amazing at separating lashes.

Nars Bronzer - Laguna

Definitely worth the money, I use it everyday and I still haven't hit pan. I think it could suit a lot of skin tones because it gives a natural bronzed glow and makes a good contour colour.

Benefit Blush - CORALista

LOVE THIS! It really brightens up my skin and gives a pretty natural blush to the cheeks.

Carmex - Cherry

Softens my lips really well, definitely need this for winter!

Topshop Lipstick - Oh La La

I like this lipstick a lot, it's a good summer shade and I often wear it to give a bit of colour to my outfit when i'm wearing quite dark clothes. However I think if it's not blended it looks like it's just a layer of colour on your lips, like it's not actually sunken in.

Bourjois Paris Colour Boost Lipstick - 03 Orange Punch

This is a new discovery and it's already one of my favourite lip products. It's super easy to apply with a good colour pigment, and I especially like its glossy finish because it lasts ages meaning I don't have to keep reapplying it which I am usually too lazy to do.

Lanzarote

Hello!

Sorry for not blogging through August, I've had such a busy month. 

I'll catch you up on some of the things I've been up to.

Near the beginning of August for two weeks me and my parents went to Lanzarote for the first time. I've been to Tenerife before which is one of Lanzarote's neighbouring Islands in the Canary Islands so I kind of expected it to be the same, but it was a lot hotter and windier. I actually had to avoid wearing all my dresses and skirts during the day in the fear that they would fly up every thirty seconds! But the wind was a nice cooler for the hot weather because I think I would have melted if it wasn't there.

For the first few days we mostly relaxed in the apartment and by the pool because we were all so tired, but we decided to rent a car for the second week and explore the Island. I think that was my favourite part of the holiday because it was nice to look the different scenery while driving, Britain can get quite boring to look at because the Landscape is pretty much the same everywhere, however I think the hotter countries tend to have a varying Landscape. I was quite shocked at how small Lanzarote is though because we had managed to drive the full length of it in less than a day.

But anyway here are some pictures from the holiday.

Every morning outside our apartment a small group of parrots would appear and fly to and from all the trees, they were incredibly noisy for such small birds!

During the first week we decided to visit Rancho Texas Park which was a few minutes away from where we were staying.

They had an amazing bird show where they flew all kinds of birds around the main stage area and over where we were all sat. 

When we rented the car we chose to drive around the edge of part of the island and came to a place which looked a lot like a British seaside town.

We also drove to The Green Lake which is exactly what it sounds like, I'm not quite sure what made it green but it was pretty cool, and there was a really small village next to it where we looked out over the sea and ate ice creams.

On the same day we visited another town which was slightly bigger and had a beautiful church in the center.

Ok this is what I was most excited for:

Camel riding!!

They have super big feet but a very calming style of walking. Except the camel behind us wasn't bothered about personal space and kept putting its head next to ours throughout the whole ride. It actually spat on my dads arm and it looked really offended when he tried to stroke it.

After the camel rides we drove up the volcano. 

I thought this was really amazing, they had used a hole in the ground which went straight down to the inside of the volcano and used the heat from the lava at the bottom as a barbecue. They had a restaurant next to here and they literally cooked the meat for the meals over this hole in the ground.

Economical.

One of the tour guides also directed us to another hole in the ground where he put some dry grass near the top and in a matter of seconds it was on fire, it was insane.

On one of the days we visited Museo Agricola El Patio. It was an old farm used in the early 20th Century which had been made into a museum.

And finally on the last day with the car, we drove up to another animal park called Guinate Tropical Park.

I preferred this park out of the two, but it's a shame because this one wasn't as well advertised as the other when it definitely should have been.

As we were driving back we saw this incredible view where some of the nearby Canary Islands were visible just off the coast. 

Then a couple of days later we had to catch the flight back. 

I didn't think I'd like Lanzarote as much as I did because I thought it would be really touristy but when we drove around into other areas of the island it's a lot more isolated and relaxed, it was really nice to walk around those areas.
